A New Beginning for the gomarkyBlog
This is a new beginning for the gomarkyBlog. For the past year I've been working as Creative Director at Visual Goodness which is why I haven't posted in a while. It's a dream job and I've been working hard at fulfilling the high expectations of the position.
With more experience under my belt, I can now make the time I need to return to the blog. More importantly, I've realized its importance in relation to my position as creative director and the reasons are numerous.
First, it allows me to comment on the ad industry (specifically from an interactive point of view) at a time when interactive is exiting its grade school years and entering junior high school. Even that level of maturity is questionable. However, consider the current interactive landscape: rich media ads are equally desirable and distracting, web sites are becoming more beautiful and usable, technology is still growing by leaps and bounds and interactive budgets are budging upwards. Most of our clients at Visual Goodness are largest agencies in the country: AKQA, R/GA, Digitas and on and on. This gives me a particularly vast and fascinating view of the industry.
Second, it's a release. There are a number of creative-related observations that accumulate over time. It's a combination of questions, frustrations, realizations. Perhaps I'll be lucky enough to garner an audience of people who will participate in the discourse.
Finally, let's face it. People Google people. And this blog comes up at the top of the list when you search my name. I'd like to maintain as much of an updated online persona as possible.
So, from this point on, I'll be speaking with more of a voice and less like a link farm. For those of you who refer back to previous blog entries, I'll keep the old posts live.
